Speed Identification for Vector Controlled Induction Motor without Speed Sensors

Based on the analysis of the model reference adaptive system(MRAS)speed estimators,this paper presents a new speed estimation method for the vector controlled induction motors without speed sensors.This approach combines the MRAS method and open loop estimator,and has high estimating speed and precision.It also solves a lot of problems,such as large error in the MRAS based on the back electromotive force when the motor runs across the zero speed and the instability based on the instantaneous reactive power in the regenerating mode.Finally the vector control experiments are taken on a 2 2kW induction motor driven by a multilevel inverter,and the system is monitored and commanded by computers.The experimental results verify its validity.
