An Improved Monte Carlo Method for Simulation of Electron Swarm Parameters of SF_6 and CO_2 Gas Mixtures

In order to improve the computing speed of Monte Carlo simulation, an upper bound was set in advance for each collision process in simulation of motion of electrons in gases. By this way,only one cross section needs to be evaluated at each time step (collision speed). By this method, electron swarm growth of SF6 and CO2 gas mixtures over the E/N range from 272.83Td to 364.51Td are simulated, and the electron swarm parameters such as effective ionization coefficient α , drift velocity Vd, and limiting field (E/N)lim of SF6 and CO2 gas mixtures are calculated The simulation results show excellent agreements with our experiment data, verifying the improved Monte Carlo method.
