Direct Thrust Control of PMLSM Using SVM and Sliding Mode Variable Structure

The permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) direct thrust control (DTC) system using space vector modulation (SVM) and sliding mode variable structure is analyzed in this paper. Two control methods based on SVM are presented. The first is predicting the next PWM period’s flux amplitude to control the flux and thrust. The second uses the sliding mode variable structure controller to control them. Both systems can keep the fast response characteristics and apparently reduce the mover flux and thrust ripples,and the proposed system is more robust to the mover flux estimated angle error caused by the change of the mover resistance. The conventional DTC and the proposed system were realized on the experiment platform based on TMS320LF2407. Simulation and experiment results show that the system has good performances.
