Application of Fast and Elitist Non-Dominated Sorting Generic Algorithm in Multi-Objective Reactive Power Optimization

Fast and elitist non-dominated sorting generic algorithm (NSGA-Ⅱ ) is a new multi-objective generic algorithm. It can obtain uniformly distributed Pareto-optimal solutions and has good convergence and excellent robustness. In this paper, firstly the defects of current algorithms are analyzed, then NSGA-Ⅱis applied to multi-objective reactive power optimization. Each run of the algorithm can produce many Pareto-optimal solutions. The satisfactory solution can be selected by decision-maker according to the system's requirement, which provides an effective tool for measuring the performance of different objective functions. The simulation results show that NSGA-II can obtain better optimum solutions. It should be a new method for multi-objective reactive power optimization in power systems.
