Plant Growth Simulation Algorithm for Generator Maintenance Scheduling

An optimization model for generator maintenance scheduling, which employs the sum of the difference between the weekly net reserve rate and the average net reserve rate within the whole maintenance period as the objective function, is presented. Meanwhile the model satisfies that the weekly net reserve rate is not smaller than the allowable minimum net reserve rate. By taking the combination of all generators’ maintenance startup time as the decision variable, a plant growth simulation algorithm is applied to solve the optimization model. Various constraints are treated separately according to their respective features. An example is used to test the correctness and feasibility of the model and algorithm, and an optimal generator maintenance schedule, which is better than the one gotten by using existing levelized reserve rate model and the traditional heuristic algorithm, is attained.
