Energy Storage System of Electronic Power Transformer and Its Optimal Control

In order to make EPT provide added ability to ride voltage momentary interruptions, the energy storage system of EPT is studied in this paper. The proposed energy storage system consists of an ultracapacitors bank and a bidirectional DC-DC converter, and the ultracapacitors bank is connected to the dc link in EPT through the dc-dc converter. In order to improve control performance of the bidirectional DC-DC converter, an optimal control scheme based on the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) is also presented in detail. The proposed system was implemented in laboratory based on DSP TMS320- F2812. Experimental results verify the ability of the EPT based on ultracapacitors storage energy and the validity of the proposed control scheme.
