Research on Modulation Strategy for Two-Stage Matrix Converter in More Electric Aircraft

One of the most recent trends in aerospace industry is the more electric aircraft(MEA),which provide variable frequency voltage for airborne power device.Two-stage matrix converter(TSMC),if employed in MEA,is capable to greatly increase the power-weight ratio and help to improve the quality of power source.However,recent researches mostly focus on ground applications.In this article,a modified modulation strategy of TSMC in medium and variable frequency power source is presented.Firstly,it is analyzed that with the traditional modulation strategy,the rectifier-stage phase of TSMC delays.Then the feedforward correction is proposed to compensate the delay.Software phase-locked loop(SPLL) is employed to estimate the real-time frequency and phase information of power source.Simulation and experimental results show that,the estimation of SPLL fulfils the requirements of speed and accuracy,and the DC side voltage waveform is improved.
