Tracking the Peak Power Points for a Wind Energy Conversion System Based on Hybrid Excitation Synchronous Generator

A novel direct-driven type wind energy conversion system based on hybrid excitation synchronous generator(HESG) is introduced in this paper.A variable-step maximum power point tracking(MPPT) algorithm for direct-driven wind energy conversion system based on HESG is proposed,which is independent of the turbine parameters and air density.The algorithm searches for the Peak Power Points by varying the speed in the desired direction.An experimental setup had been built to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed control strategy.The experimental results show that the proposed variable-step search algorithm not only can search for the optimum speed automatically and realizes MPPT but also is run for the different wind velocities.
