Identify the Fault Currents and Inrush Current of a Transformer Using the Fuzzy Degree of Nearness

A new algorithem of using the fuzzy degree of nearness combined with the symmetries of wave forms of the sampled currents from the differential protection of a power transformer to identify the fault currents and inrush current for the transformer has been presented here. The results of the digital simulation have been showed that the method mentioned here can identify both the fault currents and mrush current precisily and make it rapid and reliable for the protective relay to trip even if switching on under noload conditions with a internal fault occorring,and then avoid the misoperation with which the second harmonic restraint results very often.
