Study and Application on the New Wide Area Backup Protection of High Voltage Transmission Line and Its Real-Time Communication

Niu Wenjuan(Huazhong University of Science and Technology)  
With power grid interconnecting large-scale, a higher demand to the stability of the power system is presented.The wide area transmission line backup protection is proposed as an integrated approach to both component and system protection. Real-time communication in this protection is discussed in detail, including its hardware design, communication protocol and communication procedure. This equipment works well in static simulation tests where it reaches the anticipative goal, and is about to be applied in power networks.
