Study on Fault Location by Transient Component for Single-Phase to Ground Fault in Distribution Networks

A novel method of fault location was presented based on transient component for single-phase to ground fault in distribution networks.By analyzing free oscill ation frequency included in the zero-sequence current of fault line head and uti lizing energy values resulted from wavelet package reconfiguration coefficient, it constitutes characteristic vector of fault location and then maps correlatio n between the characteristic vector and fault distance. Simulations show that t he novel algorithm is effective.
