Study on mission system of UCAVs

Advanced mission system is the core for operation of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles(UCAVs).The authors analyze the scheme of the mission system in three levels of functional,physical and technical realization.In functional level,controlled/autonomous attacking mode is used,in which the UCAV can be controlled by the operator at the ground station for executing operational task,and also can realize automatic target recognition,threat evaluation,attacking sequencing and fire power distributing,complete target attacking and threat evading autonomously.Another operation mode in this level is: the operator designates the target to be attacked,and the mission system will plan the flight route and flight operation instruction automatically,control the UCAV autonomously by the flight control system for flying to the optimum area for attacking. At the physical level,the mission system is composed of two parts of airborne mission system and the ground control station.At technical realization level,the main critical technologies include mission plan,sensor data processing and information fusion,sensor management,situation evaluation and tactical decision-making,and autonomous attacking etc.
