Performance Analysis and Application of Electron-Multiplied-CCD

The principle of Electron Multiplying Charge Coupled Device(EMCCD),a new kind low-light level photo-electronic sensor,was described in detail.The advantages and disadvantages of EMCCD,ordinary CCD,Intensified CCD(ICCD) and Electron Bombed CCD(EBCCD) were studied,and their signal-to-noise ratio and low-light level detection capability were analyzed and compared with each other.Current domestic EMCCD chips and EMCCD based low-light level video cameras were compared with that from foreign countries.Applications of EMCCD in military and civil area were forecasted.
