Passive Optical Athermalization Design in Re-Imaging Optical System

The theory of passive optical athermalization design was introduced,and the thermal defocus in a re-imaging optical system was analyzed.A method for accomplishing an athermalization design in a re-imaging optical system was proposed by designing athermalized objective lenses and relay lenses.The graphical design methods for a system composed of four lenses made of three kinds of materials were studied,and the design process was given in detail.In addition,an IR re-imaging optical system operating in LWIR was designed by using three common optical materials Ge,ZnS and CdTe.The result showed that the system performed very well at athermalization and achromatism in the temperature range from -60 ℃ to 70 ℃.
