CRUSTAL FINE-STRUCTURE, BASIN FORMATION AND PROSPECTS OF OIL AND GAS IN JZA AREA OF EASTERN CHINA

CHEN Shengzao~* GUO Lingzhi SHI Yangzhen (Department of Geology, Nanjing University)
Proceeding from reviewing the relations between the oil and gas basins and the deep crustal structure, the authors analyse the basic characteristics of crustal fine-structure and its control on the formation of rift basins and oil-gas reservoirs. At the same time, six prospects-identifying principles, four deep marks, five geophysical features, and four basic geological conditions are proposed. On the basis of the analysis, we forecast the prospects of oil and gas in Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic and Sinian sediments respectively in the study area. The Mid-Lower Yangtse Valley and Ganjiang-Poyang Lake is a distinct trijunctive reservoir system of oil and gas in eastern China. The four deep marks for prospects of oil and gas are: 1. adjoining belts of anomalous mantle; 2. thinned crust: 3. contracted parts of the centralcrust low-density layer and their margins: 4.transitional belts between uplifts and depressions on the border of basins of different age, most of which are faults, fault benches and rubbingfold belts, or tops of rises including ancient hidden(concealed)mountains. They may be accompanied by the following five geophysical features: 1. gravity gradient belts or gravity highs; 2. geothermal anomalous belts(high heat flow, high geothermal gradient and/or (mid-weak ho-springs ); 3. positive anomalous magnetic belts or local magnetic highs; 4. seismic zones and shallow focus earthquakes); 5. kinematic and dynamic features of seismic waves.
