CARBONIFEROUS LITHOFACIES—PALEOGEOGRAPHY AND PALEOTECTONICS IN CHINA
ZHANG Zuqi(Department of Geology,Centra—South University of Technology, Changsha,410083)
The lithofacies—paleogeography and their evolution during the Carbonifeous in China have been discussed in this paper under the new Carboniferous geologic timescale proposed by the author. Generally speaking, the Carboniferous is a marine transgressive period, among which the Xincunian (C_2~1)and Shaagsian(C_2~3) are two ages of active crustal movements. Based on the paleobiogeographic. paleoclimatic, and paleomagnetic data, the tectonic framework and its evolution during the Carboniferous in China and E. Asia have been discussed in the second part of this paper.
