THINKING ABOUT THE DYNAMICS MECHANISM STUDY ON FORMATION AND EVOLUTION OF SOUTH CHINA SEA

The tectonic evolution of South China Sea is very complicated because it is located in the convergent hinge of European-Asia plate, Pacific plate and India-Australia -plate. There still exists controversy in terms of the spreading times, spreading ridge structure and the dynamics resource due to the limit of research ideology, approach, instruments and poor research degree. The disputations are mainly focused on dynamics mechanism of the formation and evolution. Three important opinions are 1) collision of India-Asia plate and propagating extrusion model; 2) mantle upwelling model and 3) the subduction of Pacific plate model. These models have been analyzed in the context of this paper, each of them has its own disadvantages. On the basis of analyses and the acquaintance and experience of geological work in South China Sea, it is suggested here that the integrating research of ocean-continent interaction, deep source magma activity should be paid more attention. In addition, numerical simulation work should be especially reinforced.
