GEOCHEMISTRY AND GEOLOGICAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE BAIYANGHE BASIC-INTERMEDIATE DYKE SWARM IN THE BOGDA OROGENIC BELT IN XINJIANG, CHINA

Geochemical characteristics of the Baiyanghe basic-intermediate dyke swarm show that the dyke swarm belongs to the subalkaline series and the magma for the dykes was highly evolutionary as it is enriched in LREE, LILE (K, Rb, Ba, Sr), Pb, and depleted moderately in Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr, Hf. All these suggest that it has been metasomatised by the fluid in subduction zone, and contaminated by materials derived from the earth's crust. During late Paleozoic, Northern Xinjiang was in a postcollisional setting and characterized by significant addition of mantle-derived magmas and their differentiation in the crust. The Baiyanghe dyke swarm was intruded in the range of 270~250Ma possibly, and is indicative of the vertical growth of continental crust.
