GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND MINERALIZATION AGE OF MEIZIWO TUNGSTEN-TIN DEPOSIT IN SHIXING REGION, NORTHERN GUANGDONG

Situated in the Shixing area, northern Guangdong Province and in the middle of the Nanling Mountains, the Meiziwo large tungsten-tin deposit shows a typical "five-storey" mineralization model. Magmatism in the orefield was very strong, and the tungsten-tin quartz veins were hosted in Cambrian-Ordovician epimetamorphic rocks and Indosinian granodiorites. Quartz Rb-Sr dating shows that the Meiziwo tungsten-tin quartz veins has an isochron age of 150±5Ma(95% confidence;MSWD=0.41),which accords with dating errors with those of molybdenite Re-Os ages(154~159Ma)carried out by predecessors of the shigushan W-Bi deposit and shirenzhang in the same region. It shows that the tungsten, tungsten-tin and tungsten-bismuth deposits in the Shixing area of middle Nanling Mountains were formed during 150~160Ma, belonging to products of the Mesozoic large-scale diagenetic mineralization peak in the Nanling region.
