The Kunlun-Yellow River Movement is an intense tectonic movement at the boundary between Early Pleistocene to Middle Pleistocene. The movement shaped the modern tectonic geomorphic pattern of the Tibetan plateau. The age of the Kunlun-Yellow River Movement was constrained by paleomagnetic, ESR and TL of the Yellow River terraces, Qiangtang Formation, and Wangkun glacial beds in Kunlun Pass area, and no accurate geochronological constraints have reported yet. The movement resulted in a regional angle unconformable contact between the Xiyu conglomerate(Xiyu Formation) and Wusu Group in the Tarim Basin. Four samples were collected from the upper part of the Pulu volcanic rocks overlying the Xiyu conglomerate(Xiyu Formation) in the southern margin of Tarim basin, and whole rock ~(40)Ar/~(39)Ar dating analyses were carried out. The dating analyses yielded plateau ages of 1.03±0.05 Ma to 1.20±0.05 Ma, with a weighted average age of 1.1±0.1 Ma(n=4, MSWD=2.3). The lower age limit of the Kunlun-Yellow River Movement is accurately confirmed by whole rock dating of ~(40)Ar/~(39)Ar for the first time. It is consistent with previous results of the lower age limit of the movement within errors, provides new geochronological constraints on the the Kunlun-Yellow River Movement.
