A Wide Band-Pass Filter of Broad Angle Incidence Based on One-Dimensional Photonic Crystal Heterostructure

The forbidden and allowed bands of a one-dimensional photonic crystal heterostructure are calculated by using the band-edge analysis on the basis of formation mechanism of photonic bandgap. The result indicates that the filter which is based on the structure has a wide pass band in the joint area of visible and near infrared region, with obvious cut-off region at both sides. Simulation of the transmission spectra shows that the filter has decent transmittance in the pass band at broad angle incidence ranging from 0°to 50°.The filters which are of both cut-off and pass properties at broad angle incidence have potential applications in photonrejuvenation, CCD camera and so on.
