Outdoor Weathering Performance of PVC-Coated Membrane Material under Different Tensile Stress

The experiment used the PVC-coated membrane material as the study object.The outdoor weathering test was performed for seven months under four different tensile stresses(0%,5%,10% and20% of the breaking strength).The whiteness,surface morphology and tensile properties were tested during the experiments.In addition,Fourier transform infrared spectrometry(FTIR)was used to analyze the degradation products of aging samples.When aging time was up to seven months under 20%of the breaking strength,the whiteness decreased by 19.81%,the tensile strength retention decreased by10.63% but the tensile elongation retention just decreased by 8.89%.The surface of PVC coating can be clearly observed the crackles only at the time of four months under the same stress.The results showed that the whiteness and surface properties changed significantly under tensile stress,yet the tensile properties did not change significantly.The results of the FTIR analysis indicated that the photooxidation mechanism of PVC-coated membrane material did not change under four different tensile stresses.Eventually,the change of the carbonyl index indicated that the stress accelerated the weatheringof PVC coating.
