Study on the temp-spatial distribution of skipjack resources for tuna purse seine in the west-central Pacific Ocean

The temp-spatial distribution of skipjack resources for tuna purse seine from 1990 to 2001 in the west-central Pacific Ocean is studied by use of the methods of both grey relationship and GIS software Marine Explorer 4.0.The results shown that spatial output distribution in the 12 years can be classified into three kinds,i.e.the years for 1990,1991,1995 and 1996 are belonged to the first kind and its catch mainly come from the western areas.The years for 1998,1999 and 2001 are the second kind and the output is mainly distributed eastwards 20 degrees of longitude compared with the first.The years for 1992,1993,1994,1997 and 2000 are the third kind and the production is more widely distributed than the previous two.The distribution of high CPUE is similar with the catch.The results from grey relationship degree indicated that the highest level for skipjack resources are in 1998,2000,1994,1995 and 1999,the lowest level are in 1990,1991,1997 and 2001,and the middle level are in 1996,1992 and 1993.
