Calculation and detection of thermal cycle of laser deep penetration welding

Thermal cycle is an important parameter to influence the mechanical properties of the welded joint.Considering the effect of the plasma,a mathematical model which divides the heat source into a spot heat source and a line heat source is proposed to calculate the thermal cycle of laser welding,and the comparison between the calculated results and the experiment results obtained by the computer assisted detection is carried out.It is indicated that the calculated results and the experiment results are quite similar,and both of them prove that the rates of heating and cooling during the laser welding are very fast.
