Study on heat source model for T-joint fillet weld

XIAO Feng,MI Cai-ying(School of Mechanical Engineering,Southwest Jiaotong University,Chengdu 610031,China)  
Based on finite element software ANSYS,the 3D thermal model of T-joint fillet weld is established,firstly the distribution function of heat source models are expatiated,including the Gaussian heat source model,double-ellipsoid heat source model,uniform heat source model and two kinds of composite heat source model,and T-joint welding process are simulated by different welding heat source model with element birth and death,dynamic welding temperature field is obtained.Numerical simulation results shows:Due to the limited dimension of welding pool by Gaussian heat source and Gauss-Double-ellipsoid composite heat source model,the weld can not melt completely;double ellipsoid heat source,uniform heat source model and Gauss-Uniform composite heat source model can be more truly model the shape of the weld pool and welding temperature field distribution,and choosing the uniform heat source model can get best result.
