Finite element analysis of post-weld heat treatment on Monel-400 alloy plates

Based on finite element analysis software ANSYS and the characteristics of tungsten arc welding heat source and thermal elastic-plastic theory,established the Monel-400 alloy plates welding finite element model and Gauss body heat source model,welding temperature fields and residual stress fields were simulated.Afterwards,Post-weld heat treatment program was drawn up,and the corresponding temperature fields and residual stress fields were simulated.We got residual stress distribution of post-weld heat treatment,and analyzed and discussed residual stress field of welded and post-weld heat treatment respectively.So the results can be obtained as the following conclusions: Residual stress distributions are consistent with the actual welding.Post-weld heat treatment has been successfully simulated,and the maximum range of the reduced residual stress is 83%.
