Numerical simulation of laser welding of DP1000 steel for automobile

The laser power,the effect of welding speed on weld width and the effect of heat dissipation conditions on temperature distribution and weld width are analyzed based on COMSOL software,the energy received by workpiece and heating time melting workpiece are decided by the laser power and welding speed, in order to achieve welding,the laser power need to be chose reasonably,the welding process with or without copper plate corresponds to different heat dissipation conditions. The simulation results show that the optimal laser welding power is 1.1 k W and welding speed is 8 mm/s; the better the heat dissipation conditions,the faster the cooling speed around weld, the quicker the heat dissipation speed during welding process, the more clear the temperature distribution profile of workpiece,the less the weld width.
