Study on the Picture of Mt,Wutai in Cave.61,Mogao Grottoes

Cave 61, digged in the period about 947 A. D. to 951 A. D. and locally named Wenshutang(the hall for worshiping Manjusri Bodhisattva),have a large picture of Mt,Wutai in it. Mt, Wutai is located in Shanxi province, it was strained as the Manjusri Bodhisattva's rite place after Tang Dynasty, and its activities of Buddhist ceremony was also prosperous since then. With the s preading of the belief in manjuri Bodhisattva,the picture of Mt, Wutai was brought to Dunhuang. This article gave a detailed study on the 195 pieces of inscriptionand found some important contents. The ancient artists originally intended to depict the various changes of Manjuri Bodhisattva by this picture,but,because most place name in it talley with the historical situation,so they are still important to the study on Buddhist history now. And such a large picture also means a great artstic achevement.
