Discussion on spatio-temporal evolutionary characte-ristics of faulting activity in the middle-short period of strong earthquake

After the unstable sliding (stick-slip) of fault was put forward as a mechanism of earthquakes, it has been universally accepted. In this paper, the research results of the mechanism of earthquakes show the anomaly activity of fault are analyzed and briefly described. The spatio-temporal characteristics of anomaly activity of fault is given on the unstable sliding of fault in the middle-short period of strong earthquakes, and the clear spatio-temporal evolutionary characteristics of anomaly activity of fault is raised in the middle-short period of strong earthquakes from the viewpoint of geodynamics.
