Migration of the grouping strong earthquakes in China′s continent and its mechanism analysis

The migration pattern of grouping great earthquakes(M_S37.5) in western part of China′s continent(to west of 108°E) since the beginning of last century,and that of grouping strong earthquakes(M_S36.0) in North China-Northeast China area(108°~135°E,30°~50°N) since 1920s of last century,have been studied.During three periods for 1902.01~1916.12;1920.01~1947.03;1947.07~1988.12 within 1900~2001,there occurred three grouping activities of strong shallow earthquakes(M_S37.5) in western part of China's continent,and from 1977.01 to 2001.12 occurred tow great earthquake(Mani shock with M_S=7.5 in 1997.11and Kunlun event M_S=8.1 in 2001.11) might be the beginning of the fourth grouping activities.And the areas of the four grouping earthquake activities in the different periods were not repeated,and showing a clockwise migration pattern.During the time period of 1927 to 1998,three earthquake groups occurred in North and Northeast China and South and North Tianshan Mountain of Xinjiang Autonomous Region;from 1927.01 to 1948.12,1966.01 to 1976.12 and 1979.01 to 1998.12,the migration pattern shows a back-and forth way.The grouping strong earthquakes in a main area,the grouping earthquakes occurred in one active tectonic zone or several one nearby.The mechanism analysis of migration process of grouping seismicity has been done by using a model of fault interaction and stress transition.
