Multi-phase CFD Analysis of Typical Cavitator for High-Speed Supercavitating Underwater Vehicle

YUAN Xu-long, ZHANG Yu-wen, YANG Wu-gang (College of Marine, NPU, Shaanxi Xi'an 710072, China)  
Based on homogeneous flow hypothesis, a multi-phase CFD model for natural cavitating flow was built and realized under the frame of general CFD software Fluent. By numerically simulating the cavitating flow over slender body with hemisphere head and comparing with experiment measurement, the model was invalidated and proved to be very accurate. Using this model, three typical cavitator for high-speed supercavitating underwater vehicle were simulated and analyzed, which settled the base for investigating the relationship between cavity shape and cavitator parameters and the match between cavitator and afterbody.
