Protection of GPON

XIE Jun, TU Xiao-dong, HUGang (Key Laboratory of Brodband Optical Fiber Transmission and Communication Networks UEST of China, Ministry of Education Chengdu 610054)  
Gigabit-capable passive optical networks) is the very important technology in fiber to the home. Four protection schemes, named type A, type B, type C and type D, are provided in ITU-T recommendation G984.1.Two novel protection schemes .named type C+ and type E, are provided in the paper. The system performance is enhanced in scheme type C+ comparing to type C. The capability is doubled in normal condition. The cost of equipment, volume and power consumption in OLT are reduced in scheme type E comparing to type D.
