MANTLE CONVECTIVE STRESS PATTERN UNDER LITHOSPHERE FROM SATELLITE GEOPOTENTIAL COEFFICIENTS

Using the geopotential coefficents presented by GEM10B and the equations for mantle convective stress, the mantle convection pattern under the lithosphere of China and environs is computed. The selection of the wavelength range of gravity anomaly field sensitive to mantle convection is investigated. It is found that 2-11 and 12-36 gravity disturbing potential coefficients can reflect some characteristicsot whole-mantle scale mantle convection and small scale one, separately. It is necessary for using 2-36 geopotential coefficients to compute the united effect of the large scale mantle convection and small-scale one upon the lithosphere.
