STATISTICAL TEST FOR TECTONIC LOCATION OF GPS STATIONS

Before analysis of crustal movement by use of GPS observation data, it is the first stage that the tectonic locations of all observed stations are determined, then a correct tectonic model for deformation analysis can be established. Based on so called “covariance analysis theory”, a method to judge a group of stations whether they really can be considered to be located in same tectonic block or not is proposed by using the covariance statistical characters obtained from adjustments with and without constraint condition. Essentially, the method uses covariance ratio to test constraint correctness of stations situated on the same tectonic blodk, so that the purpose of identification can be reached. The method is successfully used to analyse the repeated observation data of GPS in North China and a good result is obtained.
