RESEARCH ON THE ATTENUATION CHARACTERISTICS OF THE THREE GORGES REGION BY MEANS OF ARTIFICIAL EARTHQUAKE (DSS) RECORDS

In this paper, the attenuation characteristics of relative velocity, velocity response spectrum and acceleration response spectrum is analyzed by using the artificial earthquake (DSS) records obtained through “The Resarch on Characteristics of the Deep Tectonics in Three Gorges and Nearby Area”. At the same time, comparing it with the earthquake motion attenuation rule given by using historic earthquake materials which is analyzed with transformation method. It is shown that the differences between the attenuation characteristics of earthquake motion determined by the DSS records and by historic earthquake materials is presented, especially in the partial regions with different geological conditions. These results can provide reference for the evaluation of the earthquake motion of region where the strong earthquake records is absent.
