TIME SERIES OF DISPLACEMENTS FROM GPS OBSERVATION AT FIDUCIAL STATION IN THE CRUSTAL MOVEMENT OBSERVATION NETWORK OF CHINA

A preliminary analysis on the time series of displacements from continuous GPS observations at fiducial stations during Sept. 1998 to Oct. 2001 in the CMONC(Crustal Movement Observation Network of China) is made in this paper. The selection of datum for displacement time series which is suitable for earthquake prediction is discussed. Time series of horizontal crustal displacements are obtained by defining a datum of a stable group of 9 stations with very small horizontal displacements in the eastern part of China. Time series of vertical crustal displacements are obtained by defining a datum of a stable group of 7 stations scattered in different regions with relatively small vertical displacements. During 2000 to 2001 anomalous horizontal and vertical displacements appeared twice at fiducial stations in the western part of China. These anomalies may be related with the seismic activities of magnitudes about 6 in the Yunnan region on the South North seismic belt.
