RECENT HORIZONTAL MOVEMENT AND SEISMOGENIC FEATURES OF NORTHEASTERN MARGIN OF QINGHAI-TIBET BLOCK

After %M%s8.1earthquake in the western part of Kunlun mountain pass, medium-strong earthquakes display more active. By use of new GPS observation data and finite element method, horizontal movement and deformation and seismogenic features of the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet are studied. Combining with other research results,we can draw that: 1)the %M%s8.1 earthquake effects considerably the movement and deformation of the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet block, and the effect is great in the western part of studied area; 2) strong differential motion zone has the high seismic risk, the compressional zone may result from the accumulation of strain energy and the appearance and size of tensional zone may reflect the urgency degree and magnitude of earthquake; 3) according to the relation between regional deformation features and medium-strong earthquakes, the risk of medium-strong earthquakes is high in coming one or two year in the western part of studied area where the rate of the accumulation of strain energy has been high for many years.
