PRELIMINARY STUDY ON CRUSTAL STRESS AND ITS EFFECT ON EARTHQUAKE TRIGGERING

According to the impact dynamics theory,a 3-D dynamic FEM model is used to simulate the effect of the crustal impact waves on the earthquake triggering.The impact waves resulted from stochastic load lead to the decrease of the equivalent Coulomb stress, which results in the dislocation between the crust blocks(or within a block).Consequently,it is concluded that the dynamic stress plays an important role on the earthquake triggering.
