NOISE REMOVING METHOD BASED ON WAVELET TRANSFORM FOR SAR IMAGE

Speckle noise of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) affects image quality and image interpretation seriously.The commonly spatial adaptive noise filter can reduce the noise effectively,but at the same time leads to the loss of a large number of image edge detail information. This paper introduce a method based on wavelet transform for removing the noise of the SAR image, with full consideration of the statistic characteristic of the speckle noise and combination of the wavelet transform with the spatial filter. Through the experiment of noise filter and comparison with other methods, the wavelet filter method put forward in this paper proved to be a better way to remove SAR speckle noise and to maintain image edge detail information.
