NOISE PROPERTIES IN TIME SERIES OF COORDINATE COMPONENT AT GPS FIDUCIAL STATIONS

The noise properties in time series of coordinate component at three GPS fiduacial stations distributed in different geographical locations are analyzed by use of power spectral density and spectral index method. The results indicate that all the noise time series of 9 coordinate components have the property of flicker noise plus white noise. It is consistent with the results obtained at many other GPS fiducial stations around the world. The results indicate that the noise property may be inherent property of the GPS observation technique. So that, analyzing the time series obtained by the GPS observation, the noise property should be taken into account and the observations should be weighted correctly in order to fit in the actual situation. The analysis method and procedures are introduced and some proposals for further study are also given.
