3-D Q VALUE TOMOGRAPHY OF NEAR-FIELD OBSERVATIONS OF JIASHI STRONG EARTHQUAKE SWARMS

In order to investigate the properties of medium in the focal region of Jiashi earthquake, the seismic waveform data from the temporary seismostation network in the area were processed by use of the method of amplitude spectrum fitting and 3-D Q value tomography of finite difference and the S-wave’s Q value image of the uppercrust of the area was obtained.The results show that there is low Q belt in the Q value images of different depth,they spread in the EW,NNE and NWW directions and correspond well with the Keping,Yangdaman and Maigaiti faults.Besides,the NNE low Q belt is near to the belts in which the strong earthquake swarm and aftershokes occured.It can be infered that the low Q belts may be some deep faults in the area.
