GOCE GRAVITY EXPLORER MISSION

Xu Xinyu,Li Jiancheng,Zou Xiancai,Fan Chunbo and Chu Yonghai(School of Geodesy and Geomatics,Wuhan University,Wuhan 430079)  
On the basis of the analysis of the status and limitations of existing satellite observation methods for gravity recover,the necessary development strategies for effective implementation of GOCE(Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer) plan are presented.The history and current status,basic characteristics,components,the principle of gradiometry,the data processing procedure,error analysis of GOCE,and this mission's applications in the field of solid-earth physics,geodesy,oceanography,glaciology etc.are discussed in this paper.
