INTERNAL WAVE HYPOTHESIS FOR GEOTECTONIC(Ⅰ):THINKING ON SEVERAL PROBLEMS OF PLATE TECTONIC

The discrepancies between observation and plate tectonic model increase as time goes on: no evidence of mantle convection is obtained by seismic tomography, on the contrary, It is discovered that continental that are cratons have deep crustal roots to the depths of 400km. The discoveries of rocks which are older than 600Ma in Atlantic Ocean question sea floor spreading hypothesis,and baseline measurement across spreading ocean ridge rejects the spreading model.The multiexplanation of geomagnetic a makes me data unreliable, thus it can not provide supporting evidence for plate tectonics. Plus undefined driving mechanism for plate movement, and the inability of model to explain contintal geologic phenomena,it is inevitable that a new hypothesis of geotectonics should arise.The distribution of coal and evaporite in geohistory suggests a geotectonic hypothesis of relatively fixed continents and oceans rather than a drifting model. By analysing the history of geotectonic hypotheses and drawing lessons from the foundation of heliocentric theory in astronomy, and in the light of epistemology the authors hold that new hypothesis of geotectonics must be established on irrefutable geological phenomena but multi-solvable data and deductions.Therefore, we advance the internal wave hypothesis for geotectonics and the origination of continents and oceans.
