DEEP STRUCTURE AND ITS GEODYNAMICS IN SOUTHEAST CONTINENTAL MARGIN OF CHINA

The research results from the deep seismic sounding, magnetotelluric sounding, gravity survey, aeromagnetic survey, geothermal survey, compilation of the Geoscience Transect, and seismic tomography in the southeast continental margin of China are comprehensively analyzed in this paper. The geothermal anomaly, low velocity zone and high conductivity layer in crust, and frequent occurrence of strong earthquakes show that the study area is an active area of modern tectonization. The principal compressive stress trending NWW-SEE of modern stress field in the southeast continental margin of China is attributed to the joint action by the compression of the Philippine plate to the Eurasian plate, and extension of the Okinawa trench. The driving force of the crustal movement in this area is generated by the compression of the Pacific plate and the Philippine plate to the Eurasian plate.
