INTRAPLATE AND PLATE MARGIN HORIZONTAL CRUSTAL DEFORMATION REVEALED BY PRELIMINARY RESULTS OBSERVED AT GPS TRACING STATIONS

Based on the results observed at GPS tracing stations,more accurate movement rate of intraplate and plate margin horizontal crustal deformation in East Asia has been obtained for the first time.The characteristics of horizontal crustal deformation in the continent of China and the surrounding areas are analyzed in this paper.The continent of China has an obvious eastward motion with a gradual decrease of displacement rate from west to east.The movements in the south differ greatly from north directions.The Qingzang Plateau in the west has an obvious northward movement, while in the east,there is a clear southward motion trend.The dynamic problems of horizontal crustal deformation are also approached in the paper.The authors suggest that the most direct and most important driving force of intraplate and plate-margin horizontal crustal movement is the mutual active force among the plates.The difference of gravity potential energy is also an important factor for the intraplate horizontal crustal movement.
