Reserves and development status of global unconventional natural gas

Unconventional natural gas includes tight sandstone gas,coalbed methane,shale gas,gas hydrates,high-pressure gas(water soluble gas) and deep gas.There is a great potential of unconventional gas resource in the world,which means that the unconventional natural gas has broad development prospects.This article focuses on the composition and definition of unconventional natural gas,and elaborates the distribution,reserves and production status of tight sand gas,coal bed methane,shale gas and gas hydrate in the world.It is believed that the development of unconventional gas is relatively limited so far,and new technologies remain to study.Meanwhile,we have to solve the problems such as reservoir damage and environmental aspects in the process of production.With the development of petroleum exploration and development technologies,the effective exploitation of unconventional natural gas will be realized,which plays an important role in meeting the growing energy needs.The unconventional natural gas will replace the conventional gas to become a new generation of green,high-quality alternative energy sources.
