Study on profile control system with long gelling time using control method of threshold value for initiator

Deep plugging technology is one of the key technologies for improving development effect in channeling reservoir.The gelling time of existing starch formulations of profile control agent system is too short to control,resulting in profile modification system not migrating to deep reservoir and unable to reach the purpose of deep fluid diversion.Therefore,this paper researches the system formulation with long gelling time.It is found that there is a concentration threshold value of 0.008% for initiator.When the system components are constant and the content of initiator is changed below this threshold,the system gelling time can be prolonged significantly.Under the premise of the same system agent concentration,as the gel time increases,viscosity and viscoelasticity of system after gelling increase.Based on the experiments,the gelling time can reach more than 24 hours and controllable.The single sand tube experiments show that the breakthrough pressure gradient is greater than 15 MPa/m and the gel strength can reach the application requirements of strong channeling reservoir.
