Survey of Control Strategies used for Grid-connected Wind Generators

The grid-connected wind generator system can work in either Constant Speed Constant Frequency(CSCF) or Variable Speed Constant Frequency(VSCF) generating-mode.This paper introduces different circuit topologies and the corresponding characteristics of the two modes.Whole operations of a wind generator system can be divided into three phases: starting,under rated-wind-speed and beyond rated-wind-speed phases.This paper emphasizes the Maximal Power Point Tracking(MPPT) methods under the rated-wind-speed and the pitch control methods beyond the rated-wind-speed in VSCF mode.Finally,the paper introduces several research hotspots.
