A brief study of English collocation

English collocations often cause trouble or confusion to both teachers and students who study English as a foreign language. The problem is whether there are any rules about English collocation that can be learned. Reexamination is made on English collocation in perspective of cognitive linguistics and something looms up gradually. That is, English collocation has something to do with the way of thinking and cognition of the world in English, and categorization, language iconicity and metaphorization play an important role.
