From Divination to Morality and Wisdom:A Study of the Changing Vision of Interpreting Yi Jing
XU Qiang(School of Humanities & Social Sciences,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China)
As we can see in Yi Zhuan copied on silk which is unearthed at Mawangdui, there are some changes in the vision of early interpreting of Yi Jing.It is known that Yi Jing came from the activities of divination, and was mostly used as the tool of divination by wizards in early days. However, with the development of humanity, some elements of morality and wisdom were put into the activities of divination,so the character of divination changed, and Yi Jing was thought to be the symbolization of the whole world and all its movements. Finally,Yi Jing was seen as a book recording the words of the saint by the Confucians, instead of a book of divination;so they tried their best to find the morality and wisdom in the process of interpreting Yi Jing.
